Nurse Practitioners have been practicing with dermatologists for more than 20 years, providing a wide array of services. The level of training and supervision of a Nurse Practitioner can vary widely from practice to practice depending on the supervising physician. Dr. Rausch expects a high level of competency and thoroughness from a Nurse Practitioner in her practice. Patti's training at SSCVA started with a full year of extensive hands-on training directly supervised by Dr. Rausch. After the first full year, Patti began to see patients on her own while continuing to rotate with Dr. Rausch, on a monthly basis, to gain additional knowledge and experience. Currently, Patti maintains her own schedule, working directly with patients from their initial consult, through treatment and post-surgical care. She continues to collaborate with Dr. Rausch whenever needed. For the past three years, the two have reviewed every pathology report together to create personalized treatment plans for each patient.
Patti's scope of practice has been specialized and focused on the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers. Her areas of expertise include cutaneous oncology as well as Mohs and surgical dermatology. Patti works very closely under the direct and indirect supervision of Dr. Rausch, who is available, on site, for any questions or concerns.
